(PRWEB) -- Life is short. We want to be
happy. At least most of us want to feel successful. However you may
define success, there is usually some sense of accomplishment involved.
Whether it's in our professional or personal lives, we have goals that
we want to achieve, and dreams that we want to realize. Many of us can
easily come up with an idea of what we think that we would like to
accomplish in the various aspects and phases of our brief existence
here on earth. On the other hand, it may not be so easy to really make
After all, just as success is not guaranteed, it is neither automatic
nor accidental. To increase the odds that we will be able to achieve
what we have set out to do, it more often than not requires a great
deal of planning, patience, effort, and growth. This process usually
involves, as well, the observation, development, execution, and
application of several disciplines, skills, tactics, and principles.
It's not enough to work hard. You have to work smart. Working smart
There are at least three steps in the process towards goal achievement:
1) Thoughtfully determine what it is that you want to accomplish and
how you will do it; 2) Prepare yourself for the effective pursuit of
accomplishing your goals; and 3) Persistently work the plan which you
In order to take the first step, you have to
make a concentrated effort to take a time-out, insulate yourself from
the unrelenting demands of the day, and reflect upon your life and your
ambitions. In this session of highly focused, self-reflection, you will
need to identify and list your goals, both personal and professional.
Assess their attainability. Project the components and elements that
achieving those goals will require. Finally, you will need to outline a
preliminary plan by which to take action and achieve them.
In regards to the second and third steps towards goal accomplishment,
there are a number of disciplines, skills, tactics and principles
which, to varying degrees, are generally useful elements in enabling
one to achieve a variety of goals within the professional and personal
arenas of life. These range from getting enough rest and being
physically fit to developing skills in effective communication,
delegation, time management, defeating doubt, managing distractions,
conflict resolution, and organization. Each of these many components to
accomplishment will vary in relevance to your specific type of goals.
For instance, effective communication or properly picking your battles
may be useful skills and principles that are applicable to being more
effective at your job, your practice or in the managing and growing of
your business. On the other hand, neither of these is immediately
relevant to a personal goal such as weight loss, updating the kitchen,
or catching a trophy musky.
This is the purpose and design of a Make It Happen: Achieving Personal
and Professional Goals seminar by Live Your Moment LLP. The fact is
that many of us are simply so overwhelmed by a myriad of distractions,
an overloaded schedule, or the crippling burden of chronic
procrastination. It can, therefore, be generally difficult to take a
needed time-out, ignore the regular and irregular demands of life, and
a) take an inventory of what we want to do, b) assess the attainability
of what we want to do, and c) outline a preliminary action plan on how
to get it done.
The intention of a Make It Happen presentation is that it serves as a
mechanism which will compel one to take that desperately needed
time-out, list their goals, assess their goals, decide what goals they
should pursue, and how they should go about achieving them!
For some, this presentation functions as a catalyst towards taking
action, climbing out of the rut that they may have been living in,
spurring them on to identify their goals and work towards the
achievement of those goals in an informed, disciplined, and systematic
fashion. Meaningful dreams cannot be realized by frantically flying by
the seat of one's pants.
On the other hand, there are those who have already identified their
goals and dreams and are pursuing them in a fairly focused and
persistent fashion. For them, this presentation is helpful as a review
mechanism by which they can assess the approaches that they are taking
in the pursuit of their objectives, as well as their operating set of
disciplines, skills, tactics and principles. By viewing this
presentation, and working through the exercises in which they have been
guided, they have become aware of some adjustments that they may have
needed to make in order to more effectively work towards success. Of
course, it's not enough to work hard. One must work smart.
It is, of course, the nature of our existence that tomorrow may never
come. We are, after all, frail and mortal at best. So it is with the
pursuit of success. There is no guarantee that all that we endeavor to
do will enable us to achieve whatever goal we have set out to
accomplish. Perhaps that little reminder of reality may not sound real
encouraging, but it is the truth. Success is not guaranteed.
Nevertheless, if you do nothing, it is certain that nothing will be
achieved, and your dreams will simply be nothing more than the
occasional sparks of longing, discontentment and frustration that glow
here and there between your ears. If you neglect to take initiative and
make no effort to formulate and execute a plan by which you seek to
turn an attainable dream into reality, you are pretty much guaranteed
to fail. There is an old and common saying: If you fail to plan, plan
It would be reasonable to assume that your very act of reading this
sentence indicates that simply surrendering to the easy and
unfulfilling path of zero accomplishment is not a viable option for
you. Identify and assess your goals. Outline plans of action. Pursue
your objectives in an organized, disciplined, and systematic fashion.
Have a sense of urgency. After all, time is the fire in which we burn.
